Our Accessibility Statement | ApartmentComplexes.org

ApartmentComplexes.org wants everyone to be able to research apartment communities, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology. This page explains our accessibility target, the measures we take, and how to tell us when something does not work.

Our commitment

Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time checkbox. We design and test the site with assistive technology in mind, and we treat accessibility reports with the same priority as factual corrections.

Conformance target

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. Those guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities. Where we fall short, we want to know so we can fix it.

Measures we take

  • Semantic HTML5 landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) so screen readers can skip between page regions.
  • A keyboard-navigable menu and links, with visible focus states.
  • A skip-to-content link at the top of every page.
  • Text color contrast that targets the WCAG AA minimum.
  • Alternative text for meaningful images and ARIA labels for interactive controls.
  • A responsive layout that works at different screen sizes and zoom levels, with text that can be resized.
  • Plain-language copy and a consistent heading structure on every page.

Known limitations

Some parts of the site depend on third parties and are outside our direct control. Google ads served on our pages may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA. The OpenStreetMap maps rendered with Leaflet are an interactive third-party component and may not be fully keyboard accessible or readable by every screen reader. We provide the same locations as text and lists on the page wherever possible. If a third-party component blocks you, contact us and we will help you get the information another way.

Feedback and contact

If you find a barrier, email contact@apartmentcomplexes.org or use our contact page. Please describe the page and the problem so we can reproduce it. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five business days. You can also review our disclaimer, privacy policy, and terms of service.
