ApartmentComplexes.org is an independent, privately operated directory of apartment communities across the United States. We gather publicly reported information about market-rate, affordable, and federally assisted housing into one searchable place, so renters and researchers can see what exists in a community without visiting a dozen different portals.
Who we are
The site is built and maintained by NPAT LLC, a private company based in Dover, Delaware. We are a small data and publishing operation. We are not a housing provider, not a landlord, and not a government office.
The problem we solve
American housing data is public, but it is scattered. HUD publishes detailed files about subsidized properties, tax-credit developments, and rent benchmarks, yet those files arrive as spreadsheets and technical extracts that most renters cannot use. The same property may appear under slightly different names and addresses on different sites. We turn those public records into pages a person can actually read, search by state, and compare.
What the directory shows
Each complex profile shows the property name, address, city, state, and ZIP code, the number of units reported, and the subsidy programs attached to the building, such as project-based Section 8, public housing, LIHTC tax-credit housing, and Section 202 or Section 811 housing for older adults and people with disabilities. Where the public data supports it, we also show an approximate rent range and similar rentals nearby. You can browse by state and drill into individual cities.
Where our data comes from
Our core records come from public datasets published by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, including the Picture of Subsidized Households and the HUD LIHTC database. We link to the source datasets so anyone can check our work. Data vintage varies by file, so figures may lag what is true on the ground today.
How we are funded
The directory is free for renters. The site is supported by advertising, such as Google AdSense, and by clearly labeled partner or affiliate links. If you follow a partner link and sign up for or buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Renters are never charged to use this site, and advertising does not change the public data we display.
Independent from government
We are not a government agency. ApartmentComplexes.org is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of HUD, any public housing authority, or any other government body. Applications for housing are made directly with the property or the administering agency, and applying is always free.
Editorial standards and corrections
We aim to publish accurate, plainly written information and to correct mistakes quickly. If a unit count, address, or program flag looks wrong, send us a note through the contact page and include the property page URL. Factual corrections take priority over everything else we receive.
